What is Wavefront Technology (wavefront analysis)?

For some years, astronomers use wavefront technology to correct atmospheric diversions, significantly improving the quality of the image obtained by telescopes. This ensures perfect focus of the objects, increasing the resolution of the optical system of the telescope.

In fact, with wavefront technology, we refine any optical system, why not the human eye as well? This revolution in the field of opticws has essentially changed the way of screening, intervention and treatment.

For example the classic paintings of visual acuity used by ophthalmologists for a century are inadequate, since they do not provide any information about the quality of vision. 10/10 vision does not necessarily mean good vision at night or in twilight.

The mapping of the visual waveform, i.e. the wavefront, gives us important information about the quality of vision of the person and captures the individual aberrations and anomalies, pictures unprecedented.

How is LASIK combined with Wavefront Technology?

Just like fingerprints are different (unique) for each man, the same goes for the human eye (everyone has a unique anatomical character). Each cornea has its own footprint (the corneal topography).

Application of the refractive LASIK technique (conventional or Z-LASIK with femtosecond laser) in combination with wavefront analysis technology (special equipment system with wavefront system), achieves an individualized treatment plan for each eye.

In the classical LASIK technique (considering only the peripheral corneal topography of a preoperative control system), a correction and restoration of basic refractive errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism) is achieved.

The impressive thing is that with the wavefront analysis technology (wavefront) we have the ability to correct secondary refractive errors of the optical system as well (e.g. coma, spherical abberations, secondary astigmatism, defocus, etc.), achieving optimal vision. Such deflections constitute 5% to 20% of all refractive errors of the eye and are directly related to problems in the quality of vision, especially in night vision.
