What exactly is pupillometry?
Pupillometry is called the screening method that involves measuring the diameter of the pupil and changes thereof under the influence of various stimuli (e.g. dark). The size of the scotopic pupil (the diameter of the pupil in the dark) and its continuous fluctuations are important information taken seriously at a preoperative control for a patient that is to undergo refractive surgery with excimer laser. The special equipment (medical equipment) used in the process of pupillometry is the pupilometer. With this system, the pupil size is estimated with high accuracy and reliability.

Pupillometry is a key measurement preoperatively so that after the refractive surgery the patient is not experiencing problems of night vision (halos, glare or other discomfort). Pupillometry is combined with wavefront technology (wavefront analysis) during the refractive control.
