What exactly is PTK technique?
The PTK method (Photo Therapeutic Keratectomy), also called phototherapeutic keratectomy, is used in cases where improvement of the various corneal surface abnormalities is required (e.g. dystrophies, superficial scars, etc.). It is a phototherapeutic method rather than photorefractive, since the laser, here, is not used to correct refractive errors. With a PTK shot of an excimer laser system we manage to improve the corneal normality with ease and speed.

With this technique, we achieve the clarity and purity of the cornea designed to marked improvement of vision. With proper planning of special software (ablation diameter & depth) the surgeon has unlimited possibilities to determine the corneal surface.
